THE POVERTY ALLEVIATION AND ADVOCACY UNIT (NORTHERN OFFICE)

Identifies and manages activities related to gender, community resource development & youth oriented programs, as well as advocacy work with a focus on community groups, critical actors and relevant institutions in the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions.


THE PERSONS LIVING WITH HIV?AIDS PROJECT (ACCRA OFFICE)
Promotes the development of a national network of persons Living with HIV/AIDS(PLWA), creates awareness among critical actors of needs of PLWAs and supports dialogue between PLWAs and critical actors..


THE ADVOCACY UNIT (ACCRA OFFICE)
Creates awareness among critical actors at the national and international level of the needs of marginalised groups, promote changes to socio-economic policy, and undertake research into the impact of public policy and obstacles to development to improve the effectiveness of advocacy. In addition , the unit promotes and facilitates the creation and expansion of marginalized groups in order to enhance empowerment and their voice in policy, supports dialogue between marginal and critical actors, and collaborates with critic actors..


THE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT UNIT
Undertakes needs assessment, provides training (including advocacy skills) and creates networks of existing leadership institutions in the communities. The unit creates awareness among critical actors and supports dialogue between the community leaders , institutions and critical actors in relation to the needs of the community, while engaging in active network partnership with civil society organisations on socio-economic issues and promoting entrepreneurial development of vulnerable and marginalized groups..


THE GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT UNIT
Focuses on balancing the rights and needs of both women and men in society by creating networks, awareness and dialogue among gender-oriented groups, civil society and critical actors. The unit improves access to information on reproductive health and rights, provides training (including advocacy), promotes women's entrepreneurial development and empowers women in decision making. The unit is responsible for the co-ordination of the activities of CEDEP Women's Forum.


THE FAMILY REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH PROJECT
Is responsible for developing culturally appropriate materials and information regarding reproductive health and for providing capacity building, training initiatives, project planning, management monitoring and evaluation for FRHP-assisted groups. FRHP is establishing a network forum for local; non-governmental and community -based organisations involved in reproductive health..


THE YOUTH INITIATIVES PROGRAMME
Assesses, analysis and documents the status and needs of youth while providing training and creating networks of youth groups and CBOs. The programme creates awareness among and supports dialogue between the youth and critical actors in relation to the needs of the youth including improving access to appropriate information, functional literacy and education, and reproductive health. The unit improves the entrepreneurial skills of youth , and helps with the acquisition and development of advocacy skills..
